As a vegan/plant based reviewer of Dr. Mark Hyman’s 10-Day Detox Diet I offer a unique, or not so unique situation.
How does the vegan get enough protein?
Wow! This is a question that people love to ask and let me tell you that we get protein from so many sources…beans, legumes, quinoa, vegetables and the list goes on and on.
However, when working through a plan that is meant to detoxify the system and jump start a whole new life based on, amongst other things, eating low-glycemic meals some of these sources need to be reconsidered.
One of the first steps in working with a client that needs to detoxify is reviewing the principles of clean eating such as no processed foods, being aware of GMO’s (genetically modified organisms), watching for hidden ingredients and being cognizant of all foods consumed. The steps for this process are no different for a vegan, vegetarian or carnivorous eater. The difference is simply in the food of choice and how to combine them.
Dr. Hyman works tirelessly to make sure to cover everything that we may need and in doing so has created a special vegetarian and vegan guide. Here we are treated to information from Dr. Hyman on how to make a vegan, or vegetarian diet, offer the ability to follow your personal eating preferences while following “the only proven way to control diabesity.”
This is going to be fun folks.
